More and more often and for many reasons, drones are used. They are also invading areas that have been little or not affected by the disturbances.

In the canton of Appenzell Ieperrhoden also, it has become increasingly clear that drones disrupt or even stalk birds and other wildlife, resulting in stress. This burden on animals can affect survival and reproductive success. A new widely circulated newsletter now shows how to avoid disturbance of birds and other wildlife by flying with drones.

Ueli Nef, director of hunting and fishing, finds more and more interference with the Dohnen inserts. For example, whole packs of wild animals are fleeing drones and are massively restricted in their habitat, which can have fatal consequences for the population. For example, nesting birds defend their territory against approaching drones, which can reduce reproductive success or even the complete failure of the brood

In a joint pamphlet entitled "Consideration while flying with drones" , the Swiss Federation of Vogelwarte Sempach and many other organizations have defined rules of conduct for drone pilots. The most important rules are as follows:
– Avoid flights in sensitive areas
– Avoid flights to nature reserves, wildlife rest areas and migratory bird sanctuaries and their surroundings

Respecting and respecting these rules, drone pilots can avoid disturbances and reduce stress on birds and other wildlife. The cantons also have the possibility of designating other areas with flight bans.

The Swiss Civil UAV Association introduces the regulation of its members as binding.
