Filming took place last week. As reported by the Graubünden Office for hunting and fishing on Thursday, it is a male wolf that was probably born last year.

Based on the symptoms, the authorities suspected that the animal was suffering from distemper or another disorder of the central nervous system. The young wolf was out in the light of day, which is not typical for a wolf. He was apathetic, showed no shyness, did not respond to cries and went around in circles.

Killed 20 animals

The animal also had swollen face and often closed eyes. For the wild hat no new picture, she had in the last year alone in the control group Seewis supervisor against 20 animals suffering from distemper, next to foxes and badgers and a raccoon.

In the young wolf, the distemper virus could not be detected, as well as rabies. The animal had a clearly detectable brain inflammation. Their causes are still unknown. Other details must also follow, from which the young wolf originates.

An infestation with heartworms (Dirofilaria) was also determined. This is the first time that a wolf discovery has been proven in Switzerland. The animal studied also had a strong parasitic infestation in the intestines and lungs.
