According to early results, a car was coming from Signau on the bypass road for reasons that are still unclear on the opposite lane. There he came to a head-on collision with a drive towards Signau car. He left the road and stopped next to the road.
The driver of the oncoming car was stuck in the vehicle and was to be released. Rescuers could only determine the death. The driver of the other car and a child traveling along were slightly injured. They were taken to the hospital with an ambulance. The deceased woman is not formally identified yet, but there are concrete indications of her identity.
During the work of the accident, the bypass had to be closed in both directions for several hours. A diversion was established by the Langnau Fire Department. In action were four ambulances, a Rega helicopter, the Bern fire brigade and the Bern canton health care team.
