In May, hooligans from Basel and Zurich jumped into each other. Thanks to the video, seven people have been identified.
The suspects have been in detention since June 22. As the newspaper NZZ am Sonntag wrote, they were arrested in various cantons. The identification was carried out thanks to the many video recordings that show the mass brawl in the Basel district.
The investigation is not over yet, says Peter Gill, spokesman for the Basel prosecutor. "We continue to evaluate the video recordings and hope to stop more suspects." For the moment, it is assumed that it is mainly hooligans from Basel and Zurich. But it was also possible that followers of other groups were involved in the riots. This will be clarified.
Several wounded
The mass brawl occurred on May 19 after the FC Basel match against FC Lucerne. About 60 people went after the game one to the other. However, they were not supporters of FC Lucerne, but groups of supporters from Zurich, who met on Basel hooligans. Several people were injured and there was a lot of property damage.
