Elections to the Federal Council: Giezendanner, Member of the National Council, First Vice-President, gives a round-up to a candidate – Switzerland

No, no and again: Gerhard Pfister does not want to be the main actor of a so-called secret plan, thanks to which the president of the CVP must still be integrated into the Bundesrat. The National Council of SVP Aargau, Ulrich Giezendanner, introduces a new candidate in the game: the Council of the Government of Lucerne, Guido Graf. It would be "a good alternative," he tweeted Friday morning. And: "Then sign up!"

Giezendanner takes his request seriously, as he says at the request of our newspaper. He knew the count, he considered him a capable politician. After his tweet, seven people from the CVP environment announced that they had pleaded for Graf's candidacy. The director of health and social affairs of the First Vice President is not surprising, he is not surprised, because he repeatedly criticized the asylum policy of Federal Councilor Simonetta Sommaruga several times. Giezendanner further stated that he supported only one candidate, who appeared in the official CVP Bundesratsticket.

Guido Graf fueled speculation about himself. After Giezendanner tweeted Thursday, Pfister could rely heavily on SVP's support. He asked Graf, "What about me?" At the request of a journalist from our newspaper, the latter wanted to give an evasive answer on Twitter. A repeated phone call answered Graf via his media spokesperson, but clearly. An application is "no option".

Until Friday, only three candidates for the CVP announced their intention to succeed Doris Leuthard's successor: the Zug State Council, Peter Hegglin, the Basel Provincial Councilor, Elisabeth Schneider-Schneiter, and the Councilor from the Urner government, Heidi Z & Graggen. Several potentially promising candidates do not throw the hat into the ring. The last cancellation comes from Pirmin Bishop. The Council of States Solothurn announced via Twitter that he would be tempted by the office, but it is difficult to be a good father of two little girls and a good federal council. Earlier, the Council of Obwalden States, Erich Ettlin, and the national councilor of Aargau, Ruth Humbel waived an application.

Cantonal CVP parties have until October 25 to nominate candidates. Elections to the Federal Council will take place on 5 December.
