The director of the Entlebuch of the UNESCO Biosphere, Theo Schnider, will take over the management of the Sörenberg mountain railways. To do this, it takes a step closer in the biosphere and thus initiates a process of early reorganization.
He has shaped the UNESCO Biosphere Entlebuch (UBE) for many years: Director Theo Schnider. Now he should leave the biosphere and resume the vacant chair of the board of Bergbahnen Sörenberg. This would require a reduction in pensions as director of the UBE. As it says in a message, Schnider is a candidate. For the UBE, this means that it must initiate an early reorganization process – in fact, the process would have been contemplated only in two years time. Before retiring, Schnider wanted to know the work of his life in good hands. In the process, it will be analyzed where the UBE should move in the future.
As the president of the UBE municipal association, Fritz Lötscher, said in an interview with the Entlebucher Anzeiger today, Schnider, when he is elected, will be in the next years have a dual function. This was not a problem. After the demolition of the "Rothorn Ost" project and the resignation of the chairman of the board, Fredy Portmann, the mountain railways had to rely on a "local tourism expert", which could lead the mountain railways into a difficult phase. As mountain railways are one of the largest and most important employers in the region and decisive development drivers, the UBE is interested in a healthy development of the company.
