The Swiss folk culture will present itself at Olma 2019 in St. Gallen as a "guest of honor". Jodel, singing, folk music, costumes, customs, flag throwers, amateur theater, painting and craftsmanship should be the focus of attention.
The Swiss Fair of Agriculture and Food is sponsored by the Interessengemeinschaft Volkskultur Schweiz and Fürstentum Liechtenstein (IGV). The fairs of Olma announced on Wednesday. IGV exists since 1990 and represents about 430,000 people active in popular culture.
Since the beginning of Olma in 1943, not only agriculture but also the traditions and customs of Switzerland have been at the center of the fair. As an honorary guest of Olma 2019, IG Volkskultur organizes among other things a special show with Swiss costumes. The appearance also includes a movement through the city center of St. Gallen.
Traditionally, a township presents itself as a guest of honor to Olma. However, it will deviate already this year: at the 76th edition of Olma from 11 to 21 October 2018, the Vaud wine festival "Feast of Winegrowers" will be the guest of honor.
