"The work is in full swing since last fall," says Linda Zwahlen. She is one of the initiators of the "Generationehuus" in Schwarzenburg. Since November, they have set up a team, developed ideas and prepared the purchase of the house. This spring, the initiators could now buy the seigniorial villa on Bernstrasse 9. Among other things, a nursery, a bistro and a coworking space will be created in the rooms. The goal: to create exchanges and connect generations.

To implement ideas, a conversion is needed. Linda Zwahlen expects costs of 1.5 million francs. "We are in touch with foundations and try to reach people who want to support and donate our concept," says Zwahlen. Many would be behind them. There is no comparable project in the Gantrisch region

Kita opens in 2019

The conversion is expected to begin in 2019. The opening of the Kita is scheduled to August. Management should be taken over by the Swiss Association of Nonprofit Women of the City of Bern, which already runs day care centers in Bern. Expected are 25 to 30 seats. "At the same time, the kindergarten is also a sign of the link between generations."

The bistro will also open in 2019. "It will be housed in a central location for visitors to come in contact." It should be open to all age groups so that an exchange can take place.

For the bistro, the generation house is in discussion with the Bernaville Foundation. "It is important for us not to compete at the bistro, no existing offer." The Bernaville Foundation would be happy to be present in the village center in the future.

Holiday Island in the Autumn

For conversion and building permit, the first ideas are already implemented. In the autumn begins a holiday island. "The compatibility of family and work is very important to us," says Zwahlen

. This month of October will also open the Shared Workspace, where workers can book a workplace. Thus, we are not only promoting the exchange of people who otherwise work alone at home. Commuter flows would also be reduced. (js)
