Texas, Dallas County Records One-Day Death Totals From COVID-19; the state’s balance sheet is now over 35,000

Dallas County reported 1,671 new coronavirus cases on Wednesday and 40 more deaths from COVID-19 – the most the county reported in a single day during the pandemic.

Statewide, Texas also reported a record one-day death toll, adding 467 deaths on Wednesday.

The last victims in Dallas County were mostly in the 60s, 70s, 80s and 90s. Twenty-five of the victims were from Dallas – including two women in their twenties, one of whom had no health problems. underlying. Six were from Mesquite, three from DeSoto, three from Duncanville and one each from Garland, Hutchins and Sachse.

“These deaths are the result of the high number of COVID cases that have been reported in recent weeks,” County Judge Clay Jenkins said in a prepared statement. “The increase in deaths always follows an increase in infections.”

Of the new cases, 1,397 were confirmed and 274 were probable.

The newly reported cases bring the county’s total to 252,047, including 222,409 confirmed cases and 29,638 probable cases. The death toll stands at 2,092.

Health officials are using hospitalizations, intensive care admissions and emergency room visits as key indicators to track the real-time impact of COVID-19 in the county. In the 24-hour period that ended Tuesday, 1,137 patients with COVID-19 were in acute care at county hospitals. During the same period, 600 emergency room visits were for symptoms of the disease.

According to state data, 119,237 people in Dallas County have received at least one dose of a coronavirus vaccine, while 23,244 are fully vaccinated.

Texas

Statewide, 19,613 more cases were reported on Wednesday, along with 467 more deaths, the highest one-day number reported during the pandemic.

The death toll in Texas now stands at 35,168.

Of the cases reported on Wednesday, 15,072 were confirmed and 4,541 were probable.

The newly reported cases bring the state total to 2,292,732, including 2,013,135 confirmed cases and 289,597 probable cases.

According to state data, 1,603,193 people in Texas have received at least one dose of a coronavirus vaccine, while 320,310 are fully vaccinated.

Tarrant County

Tarrant County reported 1,227 coronavirus cases and 12 deaths on Wednesday.

The latest victims included three men from Arlington: one in his thirties and two in his 80s. Two Fort Worth residents also died – a man and woman each in their sixties – along with two women from Mansfield, one in her sixties and one in her sixties.

Other victims included two Southlake men over 90 and three men in their 60s from Benbrook, Grapevine and Grand Prairie.

All of the victims had underlying health issues, county officials said.

Of the new cases, 982 were confirmed and 245 were probable. The new cases bring the county’s total to 211,076, including 182,189 confirmed cases and 28,887 probable cases. The death toll stands at 2,113.

According to the county, 1,279 people are hospitalized with the virus on Wednesday.

According to state data, 92,668 people in Tarrant County have received at least one dose of a coronavirus vaccine, while 10,310 are fully vaccinated.

Collin County

The state added 1,010 coronavirus cases and 11 deaths at Collin County totals Wednesday.

No details on the latest casualties were available.

Of the new cases, 673 were confirmed and 337 were probable.

The newly reported cases bring the county total to 70,414, including 60,378 confirmed cases and 10,036 probable cases. The death toll stands at 550.

According to the county, 509 people are hospitalized with the virus.

According to state data, 44,954 people in Collin County have received at least one dose of a coronavirus vaccine, while 9,844 are fully vaccinated.

Denton County

Denton County reported 645 coronavirus cases and no deaths on Wednesday.

The newly reported cases bring the county’s total to 51,857, including 41,295 confirmed cases and 10,562 probable cases. The death toll stands at 308.

According to the county, 184 people are hospitalized with the virus.

According to state data, 24,750 people in Denton County have received at least one dose of a coronavirus vaccine, while 5,468 are fully vaccinated.

The Texas Department of State Health Services have resumed reporting for these other North Texas counties. In some countries, new data may not be communicated every day.

The latest numbers are:

• Rockwall County: 9,082 cases (7,561 confirmed and 1,521 probable), 91 deaths.
• Kaufman County: 12,688 cases (11,028 confirmed and 1,660 probable), 176 deaths.
• Ellis County: 18,139 cases (15,930 confirmed and 2,209 probable), 228 deaths.
• Johnson County: 16,021 cases (14,176 confirmed and 1,845 probable), 251 deaths.
