The Massachusetts police said that a mother had been hit by her own vehicle and seriously injured after her child accidentally put her in the opposite direction while the vehicle was being loaded.
Chelmsford Police Chief James Spinney said the 37-year-old woman, whom the authorities have not identified, is expected to survive the Sunday morning incident.
Police said the 9-year-old woman's son had reversed the car while she was standing in front of the driver's side open door. They say that the woman tried to dive for the brake pedal, but was stuck then overtaken by the vehicle.
The vehicle continued down the driveway and came to a standstill after hitting a stone wall in front of the house. The child was not injured.
