The Google Maps app for Android adds a Street View layer

The amount of fun you can get with Google Maps Street View is endless. Between frequent articles on Buzzfeed detailing the same funny and scary places to look for, looking for your own home and trying to find fun place names, Maps is more than just a navigation service. That said, most fun things have been done on a PC, because the implementation of Street View on desktops is a bit more feature-rich. It's up to now. The Google Maps Android app has just been updated to better match the implementation of the Street View browser.

Previously, Street View in Google Maps on Android was triggered by opening a list of places or removing a pin. Now, as spotted by 9to5Google, nested under the categories "Card type" and "Stacks of cards" is a new category: "Explorer", Street View is the only inhabitant. Tap to highlight all blue observable streets. Once there, all you have to do is press the location of your choice on the street to instantly view the view of the corresponding street. For areas for which Street View is not available, they appear in the default color, depending on the type of map you are using.

This is an improvement in the quality of life of Android users, although I doubt that too many of us have asked. Nevertheless, it is nice to see Google pay attention to the finer details and put all the media through which one can access Google Maps.

This last feature is enabled on versions 10.23.4 and above of Google Maps for Android. You can download the latest version from the Google Play Store. For iOS users, this has not yet been set up, so we will have to wait to see if Google will also bring it.
