The Dunkirk-Fredonia Lions Club held its first annual fundraising tournament in July at the Vineyards Golf Course, 4696 Berry Road, Fredonia.

The event was considered a success and the second date for the annual tournament is set for Saturday August 6, 2022.

Sixty-eight golfers competed in teams of four each. There were many laureates. The Seneca team won first prize overall, closely followed by the Krauza team.

A Hole-in One contest was sponsored by the Fredonia Basil family of dealers and although no one won the new car, the Lions Club reports that Basil was among many other businesses in the area who donated to the ‘event: Fredonia Animal Hospital, Maurice’s, Bill’s Hooks, NestlĂ© Purina, Barone’s Liquor Store, Comerford’s Collision, Salon Belle Vie, First Ward Falcon Club, Canadaway Creek Outfitters, Duper’s, Windjammer Restaurant, Spike Daily’s, Holiday Valley, Sir Prints A lot , DeJohn’s Restaurant, Blasdel Pizza, Applebee’s and Pizza Village.

The event raised a little over $ 3,400 which will be used by the Lions Club of Dunkirk-Fredonia to support the local community through programs such as: glasses and hearing aid programs, sustainable medical supplies, scholarships for high school students, collection of winter coats, support for local pantries, and much more.
