Bath & Body Works opens, renovates and closes stores this year.

There will be 46 new stores added to the fleet, 175 renovations and 24 closures, according to the presentation of the quarterly results of the parent company L Brands, published Wednesday before a conference call with analysts Thursday morning.

In February, L Brands announced that 53 Victoria & # 39; s Secret stores would close in 2019. Documents released Wednesday indicate that 35 stores closed as of May 4th.

Since May 4, Bath & Body Works has closed three stores and opened 14 stores this year.

"We will continue to actively manage our real estate portfolio … we have opened 822 stores, closed 675 stores and sold 130 stores in the last 10 years," said L Brands in a transcript provided for Thursday's meeting.

Bath & Body Works increases by 3% between openings and closings, while Victoria's sister store's Secret decreases by 3%.

More than 7,000 store closures have already been announced in 2019.

After closures and openings, there will be 1,641 Bath & Body Works, 909 Victoria's Secret and 144 Pink Stores in the United States.

Victoria's Secret, which also opens two new stores and three Pink stores, continued to struggle and saw its sales decline by 5% in the first quarter, according to the documents. At Bath & Body Works, comparable sales increased 13%.

L Brands said it would continue to invest in Bath & Body Works' White Barn concept, "which continues to deliver strong returns and in the last three years we have about 200 White Barn projects planned for 2019."

More than 7,000 store closings have been announced for 2019, more than for the whole of 2018. This year, Gymboree, Shopko, Charlotte Russe, Payless ShoeSource and Dressbarn have all announced that they are closing all sites.

Tariff impact: Chinese tariffs could impose "general store closures" and jeopardize $ 40 billion in sales

Last week, Coresight Research, a global market research firm, estimated that "12,000 stores could be closed by the end of the year."

Analysts say that it is possible that a trade war with China could lead to more widespread closures.

L Brands says its new forecast includes the additional impact of the recent increase in tariffs on goods imported from China.

"Our largest supplier is the United States, where the majority of Bath & Body Works and Victoria's Secret Beauty products are produced," the company said. "China currently accounts for just under 20% of our total production and we have taken and will continue to take steps to mitigate our exposure to China."
