TAccording to a new study, the risk of developing Alzheimer's disease increases by almost 50% if people have distant relatives with the disease.

Although we know that having a parent with dementia increases the risk, new research shows that even cousins, grand uncles or distant great-grandparents should be treated as a alarm signal.

The researchers established this link by studying more than 270,000 people in Utah's population database, which includes information on Utah's pioneers and their descendants dating back to the nineteenth century.
