TULSA, Okla. – The Tulsa Health Department has added a new color to the Tulsa County COVID-19 postcode map.
Officials expanded the color scheme and added new guidelines for residents in “extremely serious risk” postal codes.
The postal code map, which reflects the daily rate of active cases per 1,000 residents, is updated weekly. Thresholds are based on Johns Hopkins parameters to understand the scope and severity of risk.
“THD created this map so that residents of Tulsa County can learn more about the risk level of each zip code in our community and receive clear, factual advice on staying safe at current levels. When we realized that several zip codes were double or even triple the rate of the red level, we recognized the need to expand the color system to more clearly illustrate the severity of the virus spread, ”said the director. THD Executive Dr. Bruce Dart.
There are now four shades of red to highlight the risk. The three darkest shades of red are designated as extremely serious risk. Currently, 35 of the 42 postcodes in Tulsa County are designated as severe or extremely severe risk. Residents of these areas are encouraged to stay at home unless it is essential personnel traveling for work or for medical care or food.

Residents with very high risk postal codes are urged to work from home if possible and use curbside pickup or contactless delivery for restaurants, groceries, medical supplies and vacation shopping .
