ANN ARBOR, Mich. (WXYZ) – The University of Michigan announced Wednesday that it will open a coronavirus vaccination clinic at Big House Stadium.
Forced to close its doors to fans during the COVID-19 pandemic, UM said the Big House would reopen to play a vital role in efforts to quickly vaccinate as many people as possible.
Hundreds of UM employees and students are expected to receive their first dose of the Pfizer vaccine at Michigan Stadium at 9 a.m. Thursday, according to the university.
The health system has already vaccinated more than 6,000 health workers and, through the opening of the stadium and other planned locations, aims to deliver all doses of vaccine received from the state.
Currently, Michigan Medicine only vaccinates workers and students who are in the Phase 1a priority vaccination group, according to guidelines set by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services.
