Utah Reports 1,749 New COVID-19 Cases and Eight Deaths, Including Woman Aged 15-24

The Utah Department of Health reported an increase of 1,749 new cases since yesterday, with eight additional deaths, including a woman aged 15 to 24 who was not hospitalized at the time of her death.

School-aged children account for 433 of the new cases announced today, with 198 cases in children aged 5 to 10, 81 cases in children aged 11 to 13 and 154 cases in children aged 14 to 17 years since yesterday.

6,422 additional doses of vaccine have been administered today, bringing the total to 3,372,714.

In the past 28 days, unvaccinated people are 5.3 times more likely to die from COVID-19, 6.8 times more likely to be hospitalized from COVID-19, and 6.2 times more likely to die from COVID-19 risk of testing positive for COVID-19 than vaccinated people.

As of February 1, 2021, unvaccinated people are 4.7 times more likely to die from COVID-19, 5 times more likely to be hospitalized from COVID-19, and 4.4 times more likely to test positive for COVID-19 than vaccinated people.

Just over 12,000 more people have been tested for COVID-19 since yesterday, for a total of 3,338,373.

To date, a total of 6,001,390 tests have been completed in Utah, with an increase of 20,637 tests since yesterday.

The 7-day moving average for positive tests is 1,574 per day.

The 7-day moving average for the percentage of positivity of “people to people” is 13.7%. The 7-day moving average for the percentage of “test-to-test” positivity is 10.1%.

There are currently 592 people hospitalized with COVID-19, bringing the total number since the start of the epidemic to 21,308.

Eight more people have died from COVID-19 since yesterday, for a total of 2,787 deaths in the state. One of the deaths occurred before 9/1/2021.

  2. Male, aged 45 to 64, resident of Box Elder County, hospitalized at time of death
  3. Female, aged 65 to 84, resident of Iron County, hospitalized at time of death
  4. Male, aged 65 to 84, resident of Washington County, hospitalized at time of death
  5. Female, aged 15-24, resident of Wasatch County, not hospitalized at time of death
  6. Male, aged 45 to 64, resident of Utah County, hospitalized at time of death
  7. Male, aged 45 to 64, resident of Uintah County, hospitalized at time of death
  8. Female, over 85, resident of Salt Lake County, resident in long-term care facility
