BOSTON – Behind senior Liam Jamieson’s fourth place finish, the Dartmouth men’s cross country team won the New England Championship on Saturday afternoon at Franklin Park.

Jamieson paced the Big Green, completing the 5 mile course in 24 minutes, 57.0 seconds. Sophomore David Moore crossed the finish line five seconds later, finishing eighth in 25: 02.2. Freshman Albert Velikonja (10th, 25: 04.9), junior Seth Weprin (11th, 25: 05.5) and junior Jonathan Reid (27th, 25: 24.0) completed the score for Dartmouth, who recorded a record 60 points.

“We trained really well and we just needed a few elements to show it,” said coach Justin Wood. “Every athlete in Dartmouth has set either a season record or a life time personal best for the 8K.”

The Dartmouth women were third behind Boston College and UNH. The Big Green had two top 20 runners on the 5K course, rookie Ellie Tymorek (eighth, 17: 50.2) and rookie Bella Pietrasiewicz (17th, 18: 11.8.)

Men’s team scores (top five): Dartmouth 60, AIC 78, Brown 89, CCSU 132, Providence 136.

Women’s team scores (top five): Boston College 32, UNH 99, Dartmouth 125, Quinnipiac 157, Brown 162.

WOMEN’S FOOTBALLDartmouth 2, Yale 1

NEW HAVEN, Connecticut – The Big Green claimed their first Ivy League victory of the season, beating the Bulldogs at Burnham Field after a two-goal game from first-year forward Hannah Curtin.

Curtin got things done quickly for Dartmouth (5-4-1, 1-2-0) by turning a Dasa Hase pass into an eighth-minute goal. Yale classified the game 17 seconds later. It was there that he stayed until the winner of Curtin’s game with less than two minutes left in regulation, thanks to an assist from Allie Winstanley.

Dartmouth visits Penn on Saturday.

MEN’S FOOTBALLYale 2, Dartmouth 0

NEW HAVEN, Connecticut – Host Bulldogs (4-4-2, 1-0-1) scored twice late to hand the Big Green (1-8-0, 0-2-0) back to Reese Stadium.

Paolo Carroll scored both Yale goals in the 78th and 84th minutes. Alex Budnik made four saves in the Dartmouth net.

The Big Green goes to Penn on Saturday.

RUGBY WOMENDartmouth 70, Mont St. Mary’s 0

HANOVER – Eight Big Green players crossed the try line and Dartmouth recorded just the fourth shutout in program history to dominate the Mountaineers at Brophy Field.

Idia Ihensekhien and Asialeata Meni both had two tries to lead the attack. MSM held Dartmouth to a try in the first 16 minutes of the game, but a score from Emily Henrich opened the waters. The Big Green were leading 42-0 at halftime.

Dartmouth (5-0) welcomes Harvard on October 23.

FIELD HOCKEYPrinceton 6, Dartmouth 0

HANOVER— The 18th-ranked Tigers crushed Big Green (4-7-0) at Chase Field.

Beth Yeager scored four goals for Princeton, who used a strong third quarter to gain control.

Junior Hatley Post made five saves for the Big Green, all of which came in the final quarter.

WOMEN’S VOLLEYBALLYale 3, Dartmouth 1

NEW HAVEN, Connecticut – The Bulldogs handed Dartmouth a fifth straight Ivy League loss in a 25-15, 22-25, 25-20, 25-22 decision.

The Big Green (8-6, 0-5) returns to Leede Arena next weekend to host Columbia and Cornell.
