For months we’ve been hearing rumors that the next Call of Duty in the franchise will be Vanguard. It was also reported that the game will be revealed via Warzone during a live event.
Call of Duty: Vanguard is slated for release in 2021 as Gamescom recently announced that Activision will be participating in this year’s event.
Last year, the world got to see the trailer for Call of Duty: Cold War the day before Gamescom kicked off, and then got a new look at the game as its world premiere during the event.
Gamescom 2021 is set to begin on August 25, and with confirmation from Activision, stars are lining up for a reveal from Vanguard.
August reveal reportedly aligns with Activision past
Last August, Call of Duty revealed Black Ops Cold War through an in-game Warzone event where players were required to complete tasks before unlocking the reveal while playing the game.
Earlier this year, famed leaker Tom Henderson reported that Call of Duty would reveal the franchise’s next installment through another Warzone event.
Call of Duty 2021 will be revealed “in the middle of the year” and will also be revealed via Warzone.
We’re still a long way from a reveal, the best guess is probably August coincides with the reveal of Black Ops Cold War.

Although nothing was confirmed by Activision, the data miners searched the files to find as much information as possible.
ZestyCODLeaks reported in April that a “major event” was happening to Warzone and that there would be a cutscene after the event.
MAJOR UPCOMING EVENT🚨
Actually, I’ve known this for a while now, but felt like I didn’t have enough for an article.
There is a NEW major event coming up called “X2” which will feature “Armored Train” and “Ambush”.

The leak also states that the Cold War reveal was listed as “x1_end” in the files and this new event is listed as “x2,” which fans hope it means there will be an reveal.
More Vanguard details emerge ahead of reveal
Vanguard is also reportedly set to bring a new WWII-themed Warzone map to the community. It is said to include planes, tanks and ships.
A new controller setting was added to the game at the start of Season 4, and screenshots show players can now select “Airplanes Only” for an inverted vertical look.
Activision remained silent on their side of things, but said on a conference call that the upcoming CoD is “designed to integrate and enhance the existing COD ecosystem.” Fans can therefore expect to see a change in Warzone in the near future.
