There are treasures buried underground, like gold, silver, and diamonds – and then there is manna from heaven.
Last year, a meteorite impact in Costa Rica sparked a frantic hunt for precious fragments and attracted collectors from around the world. The meteorite – a rare type known as carbonaceous chondrite – can contain complex organic molecules that have given life on Earth a head start. To understand why, you have to consider the epic journey that the meteorite, called Aguas Zarcas, took before arriving at its final destination.
