MAUSTON, Wisconsin – Following another death from COVID-19 in Juneau County, public health officials are taking the time to share a message from the man’s family: Get vaccinated.
The Juneau County Public Health Department shared a Facebook post announcing the death of the 49-year-old. According to the publication, the man left four children and his wife. He had no underlying health problem but was not vaccinated.
His wife shared a message with the ministry saying he would still be there if he was.
“Anyone who is not vaccinated, please get vaccinated,” she said. “My husband would still be alive if he were vaccinated.
To date, 7,771 people in Wisconsin have died from complications from COVID-19 since the start of the pandemic. Twenty-three people have died from the disease in Juneau County.
Statewide, 52.8% of residents are fully immunized. In Juneau County, less than half of residents are fully immunized.
According to data from the Wisconsin Department of Health Services, those who are not vaccinated are more than 10 times more likely to die from COVID-19 than those who have been vaccinated. Hospitalizations are more than eight times more likely for unvaccinated people.
