Recent visitors to Woodbury Common may have been exposed to measles after a New York City resident with a confirmed case of measles went to the large shopping area, according to the County Health Department. # 39; Orange.
The infected person went to the shopping area between 4:00 pm and 9:00 pm Sunday, March 31, the department said in a press release.
The Nike Factory Store and Sayki Men's Fashion Store have been visited.
Anyone who has visited the property outside of this period is not at risk for this particular exposure, said the department.
Buyers who visited these stores or the surrounding area during this time should monitor themselves for signs and symptoms of measles until Sunday, April 21, the Department of Health said. Orange County Health.
Anyone falling ill or showing the first signs of measles, such as runny nose, cough, mild fever, should contact a health care provider and ask for help. They must first call and not go to a clinic or emergency room so they do not infect others.
Measles is a highly contagious respiratory disease caused by a virus that is spread through direct contact with the nasal or throat secretions of infected people.
The Woodbury Common case closely follows other cases of measles and notorious outbreaks in Westchester, Rockland and Brooklyn, mostly isolated in Orthodox Jewish communities.
Orange County has 17 confirmed cases of measles, county officials said. There are currently eight confirmed cases in Westchester County, 173 in Rockland County and 285 in Brooklyn.
