Xbox to start publishing games on Nintendo Switch

Earlier in the day, we reported a rumor that Microsoft would soon offer an Xbox application and an Xbox Game Pass to the Nintendo Switch. But apparently, this is not the only surprise on both Nintendo and Xbox.

According to the same source, Direct-Feed Games, Microsoft will start publishing proprietary games on the Nintendo Switch, starting with Ori and the Will of the wisps. It's worth noting that Game Informer backs up these claims, as well as Xbox Game Pass information on the Nintendo platform, adding a lot of substance to the validity of everything that's involved.

Of course, if this happens, it should be noted that larger and more technically demanding Xbox games will probably never be readable on the Switch natively, given the hardware limitations of the system. But the less demanding games Xbox pump, such as Ori and the will of the wisps, should have no problem running on the Nintendo console. And those who can not, will simply have to play streaming on Xbox Game Pass.

Like any report, it should be taken with a grain of salt, but with Game Informer putting all its weight behind the claims, everything suddenly seems much more likely. Still, this is not an official confirmation, so I will not bet your house on what is happening.

If this is true, Microsoft and Nintendo have taken initiatives that would apparently leave the PlayStation safe. However, if Microsoft brings its games to Switch, it is possible that it does the same with the PS4 and PS5, either in native mode or via Xbox Game Pass.

Game Informer and Direct-Feed Games both note that an announcement will be made about it this year. Given the magnitude of this announcement, I would not be surprised if this announcement is reserved for E3.

Anyway, as always, do not hesitate to leave a comment letting us know what you think. Will it happen? If so, what does it mean for the future Xbox consoles if you can just play games on PC, Switch or elsewhere?
