The Whisperers attack in the mid-season trailer for "The Walking Dead".

They are ugly, they are scary and they feel death: the new antagonists of The dead who walk are finally here. After Negan and his saviors, Michonne, Daryl and the rest of the group will now face a sinister community that uses skins of walkers to camouflage themselves and live among the zombies. The Whisperers, whose name comes from their terrifying way of communicating, have arrived in the mid-season episode of Season 9, but they will be attacking for real in the second half of the season, as revealed by this short trailer released by AMC.

Indeed, fans of the series will now be able to better understand the operation of this strange community. As in comics, it is led by two leaders, Alpha and Beta, played by Samantha Morton (Minority report) and Ryan Hurst (Opie in Son of anarchy) respectively. Both actors seem to excel in their roles, although apparently the actors were afraid to play with them in certain scenes.

It must be said that the macabre makeup of Greg Nicotero's team, of which we have a glimpse of the skills in the trailer in the form of the character Beta, is one of the best on the small screen. The daughter of Alpha, Lydia (Cassady McClincy, stone castle), will also make an appearance, although his love story with Carl, extracted comics, may be difficult to include in the series.

But the network has kept the best for last, with the announcement of Negan's return to the Sanctuary in full possession of his faculties. The most dangerous man in Alexandria manages either to escape from his cell or is released by the survivors to fight evil with evil and to delight the spectators with a saner struggle between Lucille and the Whisperers skull.

Season 9 of The dead who walk will resume on February 10, 2019 in the United States.
