Brevard Hospital Announces No-Visit Policy Due to Rise in COVID-19 Cases

TITUSVILLE, Florida – As coronavirus cases continue to rise across Florida, a Brevard County hospital has temporarily banned visitors with few exceptions, according to a press release.

The no-visit policy at Parrish Medical Center in Titusville goes into effect Friday at 5 p.m., the statement said.

“To further ensure a safe and restorative health care environment for all, Parrish Medical Center is once again implementing a temporary no-visit policy effective Friday, December 4 at 5 p.m. and until further notice,” said hospital officials.

According to the statement, visitors will not be admitted to the hospital except in certain situations such as the following:

• Scheduled outpatient appointment or scheduled elective procedure
  • People requiring assistance with a scheduled appointment may be eligible for a care partner.
• Hospice / end of life
• Pediatric care (parents only)
• Maternity / labor and childbirth (one visitor)
  • The spouse / partner is limited to visits from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and must stay in the room with mom / baby until the end of their visit.
• Emergency service (no visitors)
  • No visitors except in case of hospice / end of life or pediatric care (parent only)

All approved visitors will undergo a pre-screening which includes temperature control. Masks or other face coverings are needed at all times, hospital officials said.

The hospital offers video tours with patients. This service is available by contacting the PMC patient experience team at 321-268-6357. Mobile devices are required for virtual tours.

Hospital officials said the visitor ban was necessary due to the recent increase in COVID-19 cases in Brevard County.

According to the latest figures from the Florida Department of Health released on Friday, Brevard County accounts for more than 16,300 of the 1,039,207 confirmed coronavirus cases in Florida.
