Twitter to ban accounts created by minors [19659003] Last week we reported that Facebook had started to ban users suspected to be minors. Like most social media platforms have a minimum age of 13 years to create an account, this was not unexpected. Twitter seems to be doing the same now, but in a slightly more intrusive way.

Regulatory Compliance
As part of the new EU General Regulation on Data Protection and Facebook must implement much stricter restrictions on the age of their users. Twitter, however, believes that he has a problem. In other words, when the user originally created an account, he was not under the age of 13, he was not legally related to the requirements. As such, for them, their only solution is to retroactively ban accounts for users who may be over 13 years old now, but not at the time of their initial registration.
This is certainly a stricter approach than that of Facebook, but that they deem clearly necessary to comply with the new guidelines. In fairness, they might also be right. The legality of a contract concluded by a minor who is now elderly is a very relevant point
A Harsh Bit!
While this may sound a little harsh, Twitter has said that there are no tools to remove any posted content before the respective user has been 13 years old. As such, simply banning the account is the most effective way of dealing with the problem. There have been a number of confirmed users who have lost their account. It seems, however, that Twitter may reconsider the decision if the ban was made because of an error.
