According to one study, being young, single or job seeker makes Facebook users more likely to have disabled their accounts or, at least, to consider them.

Researchers at the University of Lehigh in Pennsylvania studied eight factors.

They also said that users who weighed more were less likely to have considered turning off their accounts

Facebook has not yet responded to a request for comment.

The study is based on data collected

Investigators from the Survey Research Institute conducted telephone surveys of 1,000 US households in 2015.

Of the 1,000 respondents, 215 reported have considered disabling their Facebook account and 169 have said they have disabled.

The findings do not take into account recent developments that could affect a person's decision to leave the platform, such as the Cambridge Analytica data scandal.

The paper was presented at the 2018 Conference on Human Factors in Computer Systems and was published in the proceedings of the conference.
