CDC confirms 14 polio-like cases in Texas

SAN ANTONIO – The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention estimates that Texas has 14 confirmed cases of acute flaccid myelitis, or AFM.

This is the second highest prevalence of this disease in the country. In the United States, there are 286 possible and confirmed cases of AFM.

Since 2014, more than 90% of AFM patients were children under four years old.
