KUALA LUMPUR: The fiancee of the firefighter wounded during the violence outside Sri Maha Mariamman temple asked the public to stop speculating on his condition.
Nurul Najihah told his Facebook account that his 24-year-old fiance Muhammad Adib Mohd Kassim, who works in the Emergency Medical Response Service of the Fire and Rescue Service (EMRS), asked the audience to pray for him.
The message has since been shared more than 800 times by the public, with most internet users praying for it to recover quickly.
"In a previous publication, Nurul Najihah posted his status saying:" You are strong. Wake up soon @Muhammad Adib. Pray for my fiance … I'm not strong, I look at you like that, "she says.
During the incident that occurred early this morning, Adib was allegedly attacked by rioters during an operation to extinguish fires of several vehicles outside the temple.
Housing and Local Government Minister Zuraida Kamaruddin said that Adib, initially unconscious, is now receiving vital support.
She said she suffered several injuries, including broken ribs.
Adib, from Kedah, is due to be married next month.
