KUALA LUMPUR: The former chairman of the Public Accounts Committee (PAC), Hasan Arifin, said today that he was unaware of any alteration of the original report on 1MDB released by the National Department of Audit two years ago.
Rompin's lawmaker stated that he assumed the report was accurate when the former Auditor General, Ambrin Buang, filed it in March 2016.
Ambrin had also denied that the report had been changed, Hasan told the press earlier in the lobby of Parliament.
Madinah Mohamad, row leader, revealed that the order of amendment of the report had been sent by the private secretary of former Prime Minister Najib Razak.
Among the alleged amendments was a paragraph stating that the fugitive businessman Low Taek Jho, or Jho Low, had attended the 1MDB board meeting.
Yesterday, Ambrin was summoned to make a statement to the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) regarding allegations that the 1MDB's report was changed.
Last month, PAC Deputy Chief Wong Kah Woh revealed that the initial report on 1MDB had been falsified.
Hasan was appointed head of the PAC on October 19, 2015, replacing Nur Jazlan Mohamed after legislator Pulai was appointed deputy minister of the interior during a cabinet reshuffle on July 28, 2015.
