KUALA LUMPUR: Appointments to other senior positions in the state and central level will be finalized once PKR President Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has completed his process of dialogue with the concerned parties.

PKR General Secretary Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail (peak) stated that Anwar had already begun to engage with the heads of state in Penang and would continue with other states.

"The party's constitution gives it the prerogative to appoint five central leaders, two vice-presidents, a general secretary, an information chief, a treasurer and 14 presidents of states.

"I spoke with Anwar before he left for Turkey and he told me that he needed time to make the engagement."

"He started in Penang and will continue to do so in other states," he told reporters during a meeting in the European Parliament lobby on Tuesday (November 27th).

Saifuddin added that the process of engagement will take time as it will take into account the situation of PKR and the need to maintain the balance and stability of the party.

Meanwhile, questioned about the imminent by-election of Rantau, Saifuddin said that he had not yet made a decision on it.

"We were supposed to hold our meeting of the political bureau tonight (November 27).

"But Anwar is in Turkey, and Datuk Seri's Dr. Wan Azizah Wan Ismail is in Qatar, and the other leaders are also absent, so we decided to postpone the meeting to a later date," he said.

On 16 November, the Special Electoral Court ruled that Umny Vice President Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasad's victory in the Rantau State constituency during the 14th general election was null and void.

The court called for the immediate holding of a by-election in the state.

Mohamad won the seat unchallenged after Dr S. Streram, a candidate for PKR, was prevented from going to the appointment center on 28 April because he did not have a laissez-passer issued by the Electoral Commission.
