Manchester City would be in secret talks to sign Real Madrid star Toni Kroos.

Infamous Spanish source Don Balon Real Madrid has said it is ready to sell the German midfielder at a reduced price of 60 million euros. Pep Guardiola seems to be enthusiastic.

Guardiola was looking for a central midfielder this summer and thought that he was going to get his hands on Jorginho before the Italian international decided to follow Maurizio Sarri to Chelsea.

City apparently remained furious with the situation and Guardiola is still looking for a central pillar after recently admitting that Fernandinho, 33, will have to rest during the busy schedule of December and January.

"He will definitely need some rest," Guardiola said last Friday.

"Now he is not with the national team, David (Silva), Sergio (Aguero), Fernandinho have had eight days off. It's a good recovery after four, five or six games in a row.

"He can not play three games every 10 days, that's impossible."

Don Balon hit Kroos' transfer to City in the summer, Kroos claiming that Pep helped him make a "big step forward" in his career during their 12 months together at Bayern Munich.

It is thought that this feeling is shared by Guardiola, a big fan of the 28-year-old German international, who David Moyes said he was going to Manchester United in 2014.

In June, Diario Gol said both Manchester clubs were enthusiastic about attacking Spanish stars, Spanish striker Marco Asensio, as well as the Kroos, worth 50 million pounds sterling.

And now, discussions are continuing with Guardiola, who hopes to be reunited with Kroos, whose contract is in effect until 2022, but who has a massive release clause of 500 million euros in his contract.
