Kuala Lumpur: The Lazada Group will soon start selling homes on its online shopping platform and plans to hold its next shopping festival on 12.12 in order to boost sales.
Lazada offers hundreds of different types of products on its platform and will add one of the largest items in the form of houses to its list.
The company works with real estate developer Mah Sing Group Bhd sell houses at a specific place.
Lazada Malaysia General Manager Christophe Lejeune said more details on the homes for sale would be announced today.
To expand the variety of items on its platform, Lejeune said Lazada wanted to add more brands and products.
Lejeune also plans to increase the number of Malaysian sellers from 50,000 currently to several hundred.
The group also aims to support eight million small and medium-sized entrepreneurs in Southeast Asia, out of a total of 400,000 by 2030.
In doing so, it creates hundreds of jobs not only within the company, but also for the entire ecosystem including vendors, logistics and related industries.
"We want to help boost sales and develop vendor activities," he said.
Besides Malaysia, Lazada is present in five other countries: Thailand, Indonesia, Vietnam, Singapore and the Philippines.
The shopping festival scheduled for 12.12 will follow the extravagance of 9.9 and the single of 11.11, which saw transactions reach an unprecedented high.
For Event 12.12, Lazada plans to add more gifts, brands and discounts.
