Sadio Mane said that he did not think too far in his Liverpool career after becoming one of the club's most profitable players last week.
Mane signed a new contract with Anfield on Thursday night, extending the versatile striker's stay with the Reds until 2023.
It was a big coup for the club after linking Roberto Firmino and Mohamed Salah to similar contracts over the last six months. Liverpool now has one of the best secured European fronts in Anfield for the next five years.
For Mane, it's just a reward for his performance since joining the club in the summer of 2016, but the former Southampton star is now firmly focused on the next stage of his Reds career.
In a long interview with Soccer Bible, the Senegalese speedster admits that he does not think about how his legacy will be seen once he has left the club, preferring to look to the immediate future under Jurgen Klopp.
"Honestly, I'm someone who does not look too much [legacy] kind of thing, "he said.
"But of course it's part of football, but I do not care about that kind of thing.
"I am someone who has ambition and who loves what he does.I always want more and I will try to give everything to get more and more."
Mane, who has scored 40 goals in 90 games under Klopp, will likely be one of the highest paid Premier League players after signing new terms last week.
It's far from being his modest debut in Senegal, where he grew up with the nickname "Ronaldinho" in tribute to the legend of Barcelona and Brazil.
Mane explained how people would cross Senegal in his town of Sedhiou just to catch a player compared to one of the greatest attackers of his generation.
"I was known in my village because everyone said that I played very well and that I love Ronaldinho, and they even called me Ronaldinho in my village!" he added.
"People came to see me from nearby towns and villages because they had heard my name and they were surprised to see how people were talking about me.
"In addition, people came from Dakar, the capital, and finally I had to go to the capital and hear how people talked about me, they came to look at me to try to get to know me, and of course, I did not know. was famous!
"Honestly, they never thought that I was going to be a football player.I understand them because before me, the village had excellent players and no one had the chance to become a football player.

"Those who were very good at football finally lost everything because they gave everything to football and that in the end they missed the opportunity to do other things." in this case, that's why my family did not want me to follow the same way.
"They wanted me to do something else, which is why they thought I was crazy to say that I wanted to be a football player.
"They gave me the example of better players than me and today, they have nothing because they were following football, football, football until they did it. at their old age.
"But I'm very happy that in the end, I succeeded and my family could see that for me it was the right decision to follow my dreams."
Since he moved to Liverpool for more than 30 million pounds, Mane has launched a fierce attack on Firmino and Salah.
Their speed, skill and flair helped them score a total of 91 goals last season, but Mane insisted he could not compete with Firmino's flamboyance off the field.
"Do I like to change my hairstyle? Not as much as someone like Firmino or someone who has a new hairstyle every game!
"No, I'm happy with my hair and I'm going to keep it.
"Who has the best dance moves?" Firmino "Every single goal does something else, something different and he really likes it."
