The President of the Bar, George Varughese (peak) stated that he considered the information "with deep concern" and condemned "in the strongest terms" any involvement of any lawyer in illegal actions.
He stated that such illegal acts constituted "flagrant malpractice and a serious breach of professional ethics".
He added that the bar is ready to provide any necessary assistance to the authorities as part of the investigation.
"The Malaysian Bar calls on the authorities to conduct a thorough investigation of all unlawful acts.
"If there is evidence of malpractice, the board will immediately file a complaint with the Disciplinary Board of Lawyers and Attorneys (ADSB) and pursue the complaint as far as possible ", he said in a statement issued Wednesday, November 28.
He added that the ASBD, an independent statutory body of the Bar to investigate lawyers' professional misconduct, will decide on the case and issue the appropriate disciplinary measures.
Earlier Wednesday, Interior Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin revealed that lawyers representing the promoter involved in the Sri Maha Mariamman Temple case had paid a group of thugs to "take care of their business "at the temple.
Several people were injured in the incident on Monday, November 24, and many vehicles were damaged.
