The Blues are seven points behind Manchester City leaders after losing to Tottenham on Saturday
Eden Hazard canceled Chelsea's chances of winning the Premier League, insisting that his goal is to be in the top four.
After an impressive start to the season, the Blues lost for the first time to Maurizio Sarri, beaten 3-1 by London rival Tottenham Hotspur at Wembley Stadium on Saturday.
The result leaves Chelsea seven points behind leaders Manchester City and Hazard admits that his team can not yet equal the consistency of the defending champions.
"We are thinking of finishing in the top four, not being champions," said the Belgian star.
"We know that City are not much better than Chelsea but they are better at the moment.
"In which areas is City better? A lot. Possession. When they have chances, they score.
"Maybe on the defensive side, they are better. They have the best players.
"Their consistency also, winning game after game. They have been in good shape since last year and we have to be back like that. "
Chelsea relocation rumors continue to circumnavigate Hazard, which has long been associated with a transfer from Real Madrid, a giant of La Liga.
He is in no hurry to leave Stamford Bridge but recently admitted that he could not rule anything beyond this season.
"I have one year left after this year," he said. "Moving out this winter is impossible. I can not leave in January because of the club and the fans.
"It will be possible in the summer, but it is also possible that I will stay in Chelsea all my life."
Chelsea is back in the Premier League on Sunday at noon time when he competes in another London derby, this time facing Fulham at Stamford Bridge.
