The Light Blues are undefeated at home this season and can count on McAuley's experience as they prepare for a great European night in the limelight at Ibrox.

Despite having to work hard to get in shape, McAuley has appeared confident behind the Rangers since his Scottish Premiership debut in the 7-1 win over Motherwell.

And McAuley was left impressed by the Rangers, the defender believing that the club's training facilities are comparable to Premier League standards.

"Definitely yes [the standards in training at Rangers are comparable to the Premier League]"McAuley told the official Rangers podcast.

"The installation here is amazing and offers everything a young player needs to grow.

"The information you get on the teams, everything is there to be developed and I was really impressed.

"We have good players and good young players who will become very good players for this club."

McAuley scored 90 minutes in the 3-0 win against Livingston on Saturday and is expected to play again in the Villarreal match.
