In addition to the Civic debut, Honda Thailand also introduced the new deal at the Thai Motor Expo in Bangkok, more than a year after its revelation in the United States. The tenth-generation D-segment sedan is expected to launch in Smile Land early next year.
Until now, very few details have been unveiled, and the Accord has even been shown with blackened glass to prevent prying eyes from seeing inside (much like what Honda Malaysia had done with the HR-V remodeled). This, however, confirms that the ASEAN market agreement will have the same conception as the US market, as we saw with the Civic.
Honda Thailand also confirmed that the Accord would be offered with a supercharged engine, as well as a hybrid version with the brand's multi-mode intelligent driving system. Like the CR-V, it will be equipped with all Honda Sensing safety features, including the Collision Mitigation Braking System (CMBS), lane departure warning, the attenuation of the road deviation and the adaptive cruise control with low speed tracking.
In the United States, the car is available with a VTEC Turbo 1.5 liter engine of 192 hp / 260 Nm or a 2.0 liter version producing 252 hp and a torque of 370 Nm, while the Accord Hybrid combines a natural engine of 2 liters to 143 hp / 175 Nm. Atkinson cycle i-VTEC engine sucked with a pair of electric motors of 181 hp / 315 Nm for a total power of 212 hp. We bet that the 1.5-liter turbo model will be the one that will be sold here.
