(Reuters) – The match between Arsenal in Europa League and Vorskla Poltava on Thursday is in doubt. The Ukrainians said that they were still waiting for confirmation of Kiev's Olimpiyskiy stadium to find out if he was ready to host the match.
UEFA on Tuesday decided to move the group E conflict from the Oleksiy Butovsky stadium of Poltava to the Kiev national sports complex, due to security concerns following the introduction of martial law in Ukraine.
Politicians in Ukraine this week approved a proposal to introduce martial law in areas most vulnerable to attacks following the capture of three Ukrainian seagoing vessels by Russia last weekend.
"The process is ongoing." We addressed to NSC Olimpiyskiy an official statement about the possibility of hosting the match, "said Vorskla vice president, Oleg Lisak, at a press conference.
"The NSC Olimpiyskiy has not yet provided an answer We are in standby mode … we are preparing plans A and B in terms of stadium preparation.
"We would like to play in our stadium for our fans … (but) for the moment, we are organizing two matches at different locations, so that (the organization) will run at the appropriate level, with the security measures .
"We are now waiting for the Olympic Stadium to tell us if it is ready to welcome us."
Arsenal has already qualified for the knockout stages of the competition with two games to play, after ensuring three wins and one draw in four matches.
