KAJANG: The caretaker's husband who took care of Nur Muazara, 11 months old, Ulfa Mohammad Zainal or Zara was sentenced to 20 years in prison and 12 impulses after pleading guilty to having sexually abused the baby earlier this month.
Judge Surita Budin delivered the sentence before the Court of Sessions yesterday after 36-year-old Hazmi Majid admitted to having inserted her finger in the baby's private parts.
Hazman, a hairdresser, was charged with inserting his finger into the baby's genitals and anus in a house in the Sri Cempaka apartment in Section 16, Bandar Baru Bangi, between 10:30 am and 1:30 pm November 7th.
The charges were made under Article 377CA of the Penal Code, which provides for a term of imprisonment of five to 30 years and a flogging sentence.
Hazmi was sentenced to 20 years and six knocks on each count, the court ordering him to serve the sentences concurrently from the date of his arrest on 13 November.
On November 23, Hazmi was charged in police court with the murder of the baby at the same location.
The infant died after being in critical condition for two days at Serdang Hospital, possibly due to physical and sexual abuse by the babysitter's husband.
Subsequent medical examinations revealed that the infant had tears on his hymen and anus, while the post-mortem report indicated the cause of death as blunt head and skull trauma.
