Liew refuses any attempt to oust his post as Sabah leader PKR – Nation

KOTA KINABALU: Datuk, Christina Liew described rumors that she would have been ousted from Sabah's PKR leader's post as being hearsay, adding that she and the party leaders were not aware of these political maneuvers.

Zimbabwe's Deputy Minister for Sabah said she would hold her advice on this issue until more is known about a meeting that would have taken place between the 15 newly elected divisional heads. Sabah PKR on November 24th.

The leaders reportedly decided to appoint Tawau PKR division chief Datuk Kong Hong Ming to lead the party in Sabah.

Liew said that she had consulted the party secretary, vice-president and party vice president about this, but that all were unaware that such a meeting had taken place.

"I would like to comment, but I can not because in the first place, leaders and do not know anything about it.

"How to comment on something we do not know? So, I consider that it is hearsay. When I know for sure, then I will comment.

"Now, I have nothing to say," she told reporters after launching the community tourism tour in Suria Sabah on Thursday (November 29th).

Liew, who is also Sabah's Minister of Tourism, Culture and Environment, said she and the leaders had to move from the series of elections that had been taking place since GE14 in may and focus on performing their tasks.

"Right after GE14, we were busy with our work. Then we had the election of our party for the last three months. It's time to move on and work, "she added.

When asked if the party leader's question would be raised at the next meeting between division heads, Liew replied that it would be the last thing on his agenda.

"If I call a meeting, the problem will not arise. It would be to move forward to build the nation, contribute to Sabah and go to the community to help people, which I am already doing now.

"I will focus on these areas and not on the party leader," she said.

As to whether she was confident of being able to retain her position as PKR leader, Liew said that it was up to the party's chairman, Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.

"As far as I'm concerned, asduring the election, I do not see any threat (in the party). If someone else means that there is a threat … maybe lah, "she said, adding that she respected the democratic process.

Liew is a member of Parliament for Tawau and a member of Api API.
