Porsche has released a new car to tempt race fans.

The German automaker surprised visitors at the 2018 show in Los Angeles on Wednesday with the revelation of the 911 GT2 RS Clubsport, a new racing variant of the 911 GT2 RS outgoing generation 991 designed for sports-club style events, such as than those organized by Porsche Club of America, as well as a future series potentially organized by the OSR.

"We are currently having very productive discussions with the organizer of the SRO race," said Frank-Steffen Walliser, Porsche's director for GT sports and competition cars, in a statement.

Make no mistake with the Club Sport package offered on the 911 GT2 RS overseas, the new 911 GT2 RS Clubsport is designed exclusively for track use and will be limited to 200 units worldwide.

The 911 GT2 RS Clubsport retains the 700-horsepower dual-turbocharged 6- and 7-speed dual-clutch transmission from its on-road counterpart. However, almost everything else has been stripped or improved. The car now weighs only 3.064 pounds.

A roll bar was welded and Recaro's unique carbon fiber racing seat was equipped with a 6-point safety harness. The standard fuel tank has been replaced by a 115-liter FT3 safety fuel cell and an air trap system has also been installed.
