Setel is a mobile payment solution from Petronas that allows you to pay for gas with your smartphone. Initially available only for Android devices, the Setel app is now available on iOS.
As a reminder, Setel works as an e-Wallet in which you can recharge with your credit or debit card or via online banking. To make a payment, go to a supported Petronas station and select the number of the pump you are currently parked on.
All experience is transparent since you can pay directly to your smartphone before getting out of the car to refuel. There is no need to queue and you can also integrate your Mesra card to earn points for each transaction. For debit card users, this allows you to pay exactly what you use without worrying about blocking RM200 credit on your savings account. For now, Setel is available in more than 40 resorts in the Klang Valley. The goal is to reach 600 stations by June 2019 and their availability nationwide by the end of 2019. According to Setel, the Mesra store function will be available from from January 2019.
To encourage more signups, Setel will benefit from a 10% discount if you register before December 2, 2018. You can download Setel on the AppStore and on Google Play.
