JOHOR BAHRU: A 39-year-old man was arrested by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) for claiming to be a private officer of the former chief commissioner and soliciting bribes.
According to sources, the man was reportedly arrested at the MACC office in Batu Pahat last night, after discovering that he had used his bank account for a transaction involving 40,000 RM, suspected of corruption, while posing as a private agent. the former chief commissioner of the MACC, Dzulkifli Ahmad.
The plaintiff paid the money to the suspect to induce him to "settle" a police case involving obscene texting and a scam, allegedly taking place in May of last year.
The case is being investigated under Article 16 (a) (A) of the MACC Act, which provides for a prison sentence of up to 20 years and a fine of not less than five years. the amount of the bribe or RM 10,000, higher, on conviction.
Johor MACC director Azmi Alias confirmed the arrest.
