The curse of November has become a legend at Arsenal.
Year after year, in North London, fans witnessed a promising start to the season, which stopped as soon as Halloween was gone.
Statistically, November was the worst month of Arsenal under Arsene Wenger in terms of average points earned in the Premier League.
They also lost 27 league games under Wenger's rule in the penultimate month of the year, far more than any other month in the football calendar.
It is perhaps not surprising that the mere mention of November was enough to sow fear among the most optimistic fans of the Gunners in recent years.
But – and whisper it softly – Arsenal may have now turned the corner under Unai Emery.
The Spaniard has certainly raised the club since his arrival this summer and now, after the 3-0 win against FC Vorksla in the Europa League, he has guided the Gunners in their first month of November without defeat since 2005.
North London has been suffering for 13 years, but the wind is starting to turn.
In 2005, Arsenal had a sensational November – winning all six matches in all competitions, three in the Premier League, two in the Champions League and one in the League.
It may not have been so impressive this time around: Emery's teams had three wins and two wins out of five, but the fact that they avoided defeat did not go unnoticed by fans.
