MGM Grand, Las Vegas – Heavyweight contender Marcus Browne (23-0, 16 KO's) defeated a bloody Badou Jack (22-2-3, 13 KO's) by a unanimous decision against the intermediate belt WBA for light trucks. The scores were 119-108, 117-110, 116-111.
Jack suffered a terrible five-inch cut in his forehead after an accidental head-to-head blow in the seventh round of the bout. Former Olympian Browne told Gray that the whiplash did not affect the outcome of the bout.
The Las Vegas resident and former two division champion, Jack, was immediately taken to the hospital for observation. Jack, who was playing in his seventh consecutive World Title fight, credited for Browne.
Browne was the most active fighter, throwing 515 shots in total to 303 for Jack. Browne plugged 103 of his punches against just 58 for Jack.
"I want to thank all the fans for your support!" The cup was nasty, but it's okay now, Alhamdulillah Congratulations to Marcus Browne for his excellent fight, "said Jack.
"No matter the cut, he was the best man tonight, I'm a warrior and I'll never stop smoking, but I did not realize the seriousness of the injury.
