Denis Suarez will be a success at Arsenal – but the Barcelona loan star will NOT be an instant hit.
This is the verdict of Adama Traoré, his former teammate at the Nou camp, who said it would be a culture shock in more ways than one in the UAE.
Traoré climbed the ladder in Barcelona with Suarez, 25, who was loaned to the Gunners until the end of the campaign.
But Traoré says the midfielder will have to work hard to adapt to football in North London because he has the habit of his brilliant Barca teammates, which makes it so easy.
Traoré said, "I think it will be a good move for Denis – but it will be a difficult start here.
"In Barcelona it's difficult, but you play with players like Messi. They make life very easy.
"At Arsenal, they are very good players, but every year, the Premier League is different, it improves more and more, even if there is no doubt that it is a very good player . "
The boss of the Gunners, Unai Emery, sees Suarez integrating into his training.
Emery has an obvious option: make an equivalent exchange, now that Aaron Ramsey's exit to Juventus has been confirmed.
And Traore says he thinks it will finally be Emery's choice.
He said: "Denis is good in the midfield thanks to his pass, even though he can play as winger. When I played with him for Barcelona B, he played a little inside.
"It will be more difficult to play on the wing here because they are usually very fast players in this position.
"I think you will find that he will show his talents in the middle. He has a good vision.
"If he qualifies for the final third and that he has a face to face, he can succeed or take it and shoot.
"But he will definitely need some time to adapt."
