The closure of the Malaysia Malaysia Bhd (MAS) Malaysian national carrier would not be a wise decision, according to AirAsia Bhd co-founder and CEO Tony Fernandes.
However, he is not interested in taking over the controls.
"There are fantastic people at Malaysia Airlines, it's a good brand … I think it could be reversed.

Fernandes was also questioned about speculation that Putrajaya would come back on the proposal exchange of shares between controlling shareholders of AirAsia and MAS.
He said that AirAsia's current goal was to grow in digital activities.
"I already have a lot on my plate … my plate is full now … we want to develop our digital business," he added.
Fernandes pointed out that digital commerce would propel AirAsia's future growth.
Earlier, the DAP legislator, RSN Nayer, had proposed that Fernandes be allowed to revive MAS at the sight of his antecedents.

In 2014, struggling MAS received a double blow when two of its planes crashed.
The MH370 flight is still missing, while the MH17 flight was shot down over Ukraine, where Russian-backed rebels were engaged in clashes with the Ukrainian government.
MAS was subsequently removed from the list and taken over by the Khazanah Nasional Bhd state sovereign wealth fund as part of a bailout.

Radiation, which consisted about half Khazanah's losses in 2018, resulted in the sovereign wealth fund in the red.
