PETALING JAYA: Sdn Bhd, a city development city, has denied any involvement in hiring "thugs" who had recently unleashed riots at USJ's Seafield Sri Maha Mariamman Temple.
In a press release issued by MCT Bhd's subsidiary, One City stated that it "categorically refused to hire or allow the hiring of thugs to trigger riots".
"The on-site staff has been tasked with providing logistical support and assisting in orderly relocation under police surveillance."
The statement added that the subsidiary "continues to cooperate with police authorities in the investigation of the incident".

The company, which is now a full-fledged member of the Philippine conglomerate Ayala Corporation, was put in the spotlight after the riots that took place on Monday at Seafield Sri Maha Mariamman Temple.
MCT, a publicly traded company in Malaysia, is 100% owner of One City through the MCT Consortium Bhd.
After MCT's annual general meeting, press representatives gathered near the entrance had informed company staff of their intention to seek the directors' views on the temple incident.

"While Skrine is currently acting for the developer in a civil proceeding involving possession of the land on which the temple is located, we categorically declare that we are not the lawyers mentioned by the Minister of the Interior.
"None of our lawyers was arrested by the police. We have absolutely no knowledge of the alleged recruitment of thugs and condemn in the harshest terms such actions, "said Skrine's partner, Khoo Guan Huat.
"All the steps we have taken as the developer's lawyers have been and will continue to be strictly in accordance with the law."
Law firm Thomas Philip said he was no longer acting for One City Development Sdn Bhd.
He said that it was the law firm registered in the proponent's file for prosecution in the Shah Alam High Court before the temple committee, which was resolved through the A consent order dated March 11, 2014.
"On December 30, 2015, a city asked a new law firm to take over the conduct of the above and all matters arising from the consent order," he said. , adding that three years had passed since the cessation of his duties for a city.
The legal community has criticized the actions of two lawyers who allegedly engaged gangsters to incite riots at the temple.
The Malaysian Bar has considered these alleged acts "with deep concern" and has condemned the involvement of any lawyer in illegal actions, said its president George Varughese.
He stated that such illegal acts constituted "flagrant malpractice and a serious breach of professional ethics".
He added that the Bar was ready to provide any necessary assistance to the authorities as part of the investigation.
"The Malaysian Bar calls on the authorities to conduct a thorough investigation of all unlawful acts.
"If there is evidence of malpractice, the board will immediately file a complaint with the Disciplinary Board of Lawyers and Lawyers (ADSB) and pursue the complaint to the full extent possible, "he said in a statement.
He stated that the ASBD, an independent statutory board body charged with investigating lawyers' misconduct, would render a judgment on the case and impose the appropriate disciplinary measures.
