PARIS: AirAsia has won the award for the best low cost airline in the world for the eleventh year in a row at the Skytrax World Airline Awards 2019.
The low-cost airline has also been named Best Asian Airline and Best Air Cabin in the World Premium Cabin for its Flatbed Premium, available on wide-haul AirAsia X long-haul aircraft.
AirAsia Group Executive Chairman Bhd, Kamarudin Meranum, said it was an honor to be recognized by Skytrax for the 11th consecutive year for its commitment to providing affordable travel services and guest-obsessed service.
"The fact that these awards are based on direct feedback is a rewarding and wonderful recognition for the Allstars (AirAsia employees) who have put so much effort and commitment into providing excellent service to our customers," he said in a statement on the sidelines of the award ceremony at the 53rd International Paris Air Show and Space Show at Le Bourget, here today.
At the ceremony, Skytrax named Qatar Airways airline of the year.
AirAsia X President Rafidah Aziz said the awards were the best in the world and were dedicated to AirAsia's Allstars, who had always defended the group's culture, mission and vision.
"We continue to be recognized as the best premium cabins for low-cost carriers in the world on our long-haul flights.
"This year, we will go even further by introducing the best in-flight comfort on the new Airbus A330neo, an aircraft that will change the face of long-haul flights as we know them.

Launched in 1999, the independent Skytrax World Airline Awards are considered the global benchmark for airline excellence.

This year's results were determined by a survey of 21.65 million customers from 100 different nationalities, who reviewed more than 300 airlines from September 2018 to May.
AirAsia serves 140 destinations from 25 hubs in 22 markets.
